When you have 100 pages of assignment to finish
When you have 5 km to run,
When you have to visit a dentist as the tooth cannot take that novel decay any more,
Which episode of friends will you watch?
Dunking a toast in the ginger tea, he asked me what was I thinking. As I was continuously staring at my big tea mug with “be you” engraved on it. I was so much lost in the the loop of thoughts that the tantalizing aroma of ginger stayed unappreciated. 14 thoughts per minute, this was my speed, dishes to clean, draft email to be sent, car battery must be low, monsoon’s dampness must be ruining my sarees and on and on and on…there was no limit to the string of thoughts. He brought me back to the present moment, by asking ” do you know you either think of immediate past or the next moment, and this present moment is just gone while you were lost in those thoughts”. Silly isn’t it, I said to myself I know this of course, still I don’t remedy it. Right there, when I realized this is also procrastination. Fancy word “PROCRASTINATION”. My encounter to this word was also because of him, when he lent me his book: Eat that frog by Brian Tracy

Read then and I am realizing it through different analogies. In my experience Procrastination is much affected by minimalism. Minimalism, not just in curbing the consumption, but also reducing unnecessary thoughts and people as well! Remember the time before pandemic, there was shopping, meeting people, office, forced socializing with colleagues, relatives, there seemed to be no end to these unimportant tasks. Boom 6 months already in pandemic, life seems to be so crystal clear; Daily needs are meager, saving is finally getting meatier; no vapid exchanges of hi and hellos, less wastage of food, opportunity to master cooking, sketching and excercising with no fancy machines. A tee, a boxer and a pair of flip flop is over utilized than any other well ironed cloths sitting in the wardrobe, sanitizers are taking the room of exotic cosmetics, finally time to find the answer to the question “What is life?” after listening to the daily news of the number of deaths.
Suddenly the world seems to be shoved with the antidote to Procrastination!
