What happened on 10th May 1996 on Sagarmatha/Chomolungma/Mount Everest is unforgettable. But what really happened, the sequence of the events direct from a person Jon Krakauer, who was in one of the group on a deliberate task, to record the events and how much commercialization of the Everest expedition was doing wrong to everything! He did provide the article to Outside magazine but later this book came, which is one of the 16th or 17th book written on this terrible event.

Book is a definitely a page turner! It keeps you so much engaged with each character. There were days when I woke up in the middle of the night just to read next; what happened on the South Col? Was there really no oxygen canisters or Harris was suffering from severe brain damage? Boukreev’s behavior, what was the flaw in Rob and Scott’s planning? I was tightly gripped as I had already been to Everest Basecamp trek in 2019 and till Namche, it felt I relived their time.

Highly recommended to all the mountain lovers. Krakauer’s modus operandi to narrate is top notch! His rest of the books are on my wish list.
