Running isn’t about making people buy stuff. Running should be free, man

Caballo Blanco

Two worlds go parallel in Christopher Mcdougall’s Born to run, hidden tribe Tarahumara ” Rarámuri” and the world’s best ultra-runners. Any naive person like me, if would want to start running would like to know the rudimentary idea about posture, shoes, gear etc. But after reading this book, it becomes very clear, running is not about those expensive brands Nike/Adidas/Brooks or Hoka one one, or the dozens of complexities that shoe companies or the brands bring to this very simple sport. A person can very well run barefoot which is supposed to be the most recommended way. My personal account: Running is so much commercialized that more you try to find the perfect shoes, more your interest starts to fade!

Look what Rarámuri wears and they are the best runners of the world.

Anecdotes about Rarámuri and their simplicity is quite astonishing. Mcdougall attempt to connect Rarámuri, Caballo and the famous Copper Canyon Ultramarathon (now famous as Ultra Maratón Caballo Blanco) in one book is great and refreshing.

Best video I found to have his glimpse.

Some characters in their prime time as worlds best runners make you curious to know more about them. Leadville 100 mile Ultra-marathon was an amazing piece to read and the narration of what happened in 1994 is really interesting.

How Leadville 100 UM looks like?

I envy Caballo aka Micah True and his guts to follow his heart. It takes his level of craziness to do what one really wants to do in life and also face the consequences. Christopher’s writing is really very good and I wish, he could have written more about Rarámuri. Running can also be so fun and full of surprises is what this book offers which has all the true characters and their ultra craziness! Go read this one…
